The book "The History of Real Betis - Gold Edition" is an intimate journey to the heart of Betis, told by someone who lived it from within. It's a work that helps you understand that this club isn't just followed: it's felt, inherited, and treasured.

Synopsis :

Manuel Simó Mateos (Seville, 1906-1978) worked at Real Betis Balompié from 1931 until his death, holding various positions: part-time employee, Secretary, Technical Secretary, General Secretary, and Field Delegate. In 1965, Benito Villamarín named him an Honorary Member and awarded him the Gold Medal of Real Betis Balompié. Four years later, the Andalusian Football Federation awarded him the Gold Medal for Merit in Sporting Work. The history of Real Betis Balompié, as told by Manuel Simó, brings us closer to both the figure of Manuel Simó and the club he loved. This is a parallel history because the events Simó recounted in 1971 for Cadena SER were firsthand experiences, with Real Betis at the center of them. His memory is filled with anecdotes, recollections, and images that allow us to understand the history of Real Betis from its origins, from its roots, with all its highs and lows. This book reveals “another history of the Club,” personal, intimate, and largely unknown, as Simó draws not on books or newspaper clippings but on the living memory of everything Betis evokes in him from childhood to the end of his days. His idea is clear: Real Betis is neither understood nor analyzed; it is felt and lived radically.

The author :

Ricardo Hurtado Simó holds a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Seville with International Distinction. A high school teacher, he has two great passions: research, in which he has published dozens of books, translations, articles, and lectures on the history of feminism and 18th-century thought; and Real Betis Balompié, a passion inherited from his grandmother and mother and shared by his entire family. With Alfar, he has published *Luis del Sol: The Legend of Seven Lungs* and *Educating in Equality: 30 Feminist Films to Watch in the Classroom* (2nd edition).
